baracche ebrei

Fossoli, vicino a Modena.

Fossoli, close to Modena, Italy, one of the two p.o.w camps in northern Italy during world war II. Allied soldiers, Italian soldiers who chose not to cooperate with the Germans after september 1943, political prisoners, civilians being deported to Germany as forced labour, Jews doomed to gas chambre. Last sunday, I decided to go there along with my wife, my son, now 11, and my mother who was 11 during the war. Although nobody probably died here, for many these buildings now falling to pieces have been the last stop before a sealed convoy. Some of those are now lost in the wind, others have returned home, their souls horrified from their experience. In the end, like vegetation among these ruins, life wins and covers everything. Nonetheless the human cost is extremely high. Not to forget the evil of man over man.

I played basketball at the JCC in Milwaukee growing up and it’s a beautiful memory. I’m sickened by yet another attack on a JCC. America, we need to stand up for each other because there is an evil building. Please defend your brothers and sisters! https://t.co/oo4jPiZAal
