They celebrated the opening of the newest Greek Orthodox Church in New Jersey this morning near the town where I live. I’m neither Greek nor Orthodox, but I wasn’t about to miss the opening of this new church which I drove by on the way to work for the last couple of years.
The ceremony for the Byzantine church was celebrated by Metropolitan Evangelos of New Jersey and the parish priest the Rev. Andrew Eugenis.
Much of the ceremony was in Greek, so I can only say "It’s all Greek to Me!" I assume that they were praying to God to protect the church and keep it safe from evil vampires, werewolves and, of course, turks and other creatures of the night.
